The Betsy Writer’s Room and University of Miami welcome
VONA/Voices to Miami.

Join us for a night of Poetry, Performance, and Paella.

“In developing VONA/Voices, we create a space that doesn’t question identity, language or topic, but looks at the work with passion and acceptance, giving writers the needed guidance to develop and grow.”

Reception with Readings by poets Adrian Castro, Jawinder Bolina and Glenda Galán, with a musical performance by Rodolfo Troncoso.

Adrian Castro is a poet, writer and artist from Miami. He combines Afro-Caribbean myths, history, and rhythms to explore Afro-Caribbean–American identity. Castro teaches at Florida International University.

Jaswinder Bolina is an American poet and essayist, winner of the 2012 Green Rose Prize in Poetry and the 2006 Colorado Prize for Poetry from the Center for Literary Publishing at Colorado State University. Bolina is a faculty member at University of Miami.

Glenda Galán is an Emmy Winning Journalist, poet and writer from the Dominican Republic.  She has worked in America TeVe and Mundo FOX as a journalist and producer and is currently the editor of Revista Cultural Dominicana en Miami.

Rodolfo Troncoso was born in Chile and later lived in Spain. The recipient of numerous prizes and awards in competitions around the country, Rodolfo has developed his own style of the Rumba Flamenca.
