SHAKESPEARE’S IN MIAMI!

The Betsy Writer's Room welcomes James Sutton, Ph.D., Associate Professor for the Department of English at FIU for a Breakfast Arts Salon.

Dr. James Sutton holds a Ph.D. in Renaissance Studies from Yale University. As a professor at Florida International University, Dr. Sutton teaches Renaissance English literature – Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

Having just completed an eight-year stint as department chairperson, Dr. Sutton now launches a new research project focused around Shakespeare in Miami. How, and why, are the author's works taught in South Florida, K - 16 and beyond? What might a history of Shakespearean performance in South Florida reveal to us? What did the exhibition of the author's "First Folio" at FIU this past February indicate?
