As individuals, these young writers have been published in highly respected, national literary journals including American Poetry Review, The Apprentice Writer, Apricity, Black Napkin, Élan Literary Magazine, Glass Kite, Hypernova Lit, Pittsburgh Poetry Houses, Rattle Young Poets Anthology, Silver Birch Press, Underscore Review and more.
They have won first place in the following national competitions: the Akers Award from the Austin International Poetry Festival's Youth Poetry Competition; ARTLines2 from Museum of Fine Arts Houston; the Critical Pass Review Junior Poet Award; the Fitzgerald Museum Poetry Competition; Palm Beach Poetry Festival “Fish Tales” Competition; Ringling College “Storytellers of Tomorrow” Competition; and the Sarah Mook Poetry Competition.
They have also been awarded multiple national Gold and Silver Medals as well as regional Gold & Silver Keys from Scholastic/Alliance of Art & Writing in addition to other honors from this society, including a National Student Poet ambassadorship and nominations for the American Voices Medal.
Soon, these talented writers will be off, many on full or partial scholarship, to the following colleges: Florida International University, Florida State University, Loyola University New Orleans, The New School, Stanford University, University of Florida, University of Miami, and Washington University in St. Louis.
