The Betsy hosts Writer in Residence Liliana V. Blum for an evening of Iberoamerican literature. Local writers include Jaime Cabrera and Pedro Medina León, with musical performance by Lourdes Valentin.
A special presentation by Miami architect Allan Shulman, featuring his newest project, "Building Bacardi" - the first book to explore the twentieth-century architectural legacy of the company and tell the story of the iconic brand’s love affair with high design.
The Betsy's weekly (mostly jazz) Live Music continues after the event, in the Betsy Lobby from 10pm to 11pm.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Liliana V. Blum was born in Durango, Mexico, and lives in Tampico. She is the author of The Curse of Eve and Other Stories, forthcoming from Host Publications. Translations of her stories have appeared in over a dozen journals. She is one of the first Mexican writers of her generation to be translated into English.
Allan T. Shulman, FAIA, LEED AP is an Architect, Preservationist, Author and Professor. He is the founding partner of the Miami based architecture firm that bares his name Shulman + Associates. Shulman’s work has been widely published in architectural journals, papers and magazines, and he has won over 60 design, preservation and architecture awards.
