ABOUT THE POET
Ramón Fernández-Larrea is a Cuban essayist and poet living in Miami. His book of poetry, Todos los cielos del cielo , won the Gastón Baquero International Poetry Prize in 2015. Other books include Poemas para ponerse en la cabeza (Premio XX Aniversario El Caimán Barbudo, La Habana, 1986), Terneros que nunca mueran de rodillas (Premio de poesía Julio Tovar en 1997), Nunca canté en Broadway. ABOUT THE BAND
Rodolfo Zuniga, a drummer, composer, and music educator based in Miami, expands his ensemble 'Surfaces' into an octet for a performance of original compositions and arrangements conceived at the crossroads of music and poetry. The program features the work of poets from Zuniga's native country, Costa Rica, combined with music by Radiohead's Thom Yorke, as well as an arrangement of Martin Bresnick’s “My Twentieth Century,” a canvas for the eponymous poem by Tom Andrews.
