The Betsy, Fountainhead Studios, and BritWeek Miami welcome UK visual artist Jenny Steele to Miami Beach for a Breakfast Arts Salon to discuss and present images from her body of work.
Steele has been awarded an Artists International Development Fund Award from the Arts Council England and British Council to travel to Miami South Beach in May 2017 to undertake architectural research, meet with curators and art professionals, and host a short exhibition of her prints. The research visit will inform her practice, as well as site specific commission at The Midland, Morecambe, UK in October 2017.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Jenny Steele's work considers 20th century architecture and interiors, and has referenced post-colonial, post-industrial and modernist sites. By exploring formal, structural and decorative aspects of architecture and interiors, Steele processes selected elements through drawing, sculpture, printmaking and animation. Adjusting perspective and scale, her work playfully re-positions the permanent nature of these structures.
