The Betsy and SWWIM (Supporting Women Writers In Miami), created by local poets Catherine Esposito Prescott and Jen Karetnick, present the final poetry reading of the SWWIM 2016-17 series (rescheduled from September 2017), with Poet in Residence, Allison Joseph and local poet, Julie Marie Wade.The event is free to attend, but your RSVP is requested.
ABOUT THE POETS:
Allison Joseph lives in Carbondale, Illinois, where she is part of the creative writing faculty at Southern Illinois University. She serves as editor and poetry editor of Crab Orchard Review, moderator of the Creative Writers Opportunities List, and director of Writers in Common, a summer writers conference for writers of all ages. Her new chapbook press, No Chair Press, will launch in 2018. Joseph is the author of sixteen poetry collections, most recently Multitudes (Word Poetry), The Purpose of Hands (Glass Lyre Press), Corporal Muse (forthcoming, Sibling Rivalry Press), Double Identity (Singing Bone Press) and What Once You Loved (Barefoot Muse Press). Her full-length collection, Confessions of a Barefaced Woman, will be published by Red Hen Press in 2018. Joseph is the literary partner and wife of poet and editor Jon Tribble.
Julie Marie Wade is the author of four collections of prose and poetry, most recently the lyric essay collection Catechism: A Love Story (Noctuary Press, 2016) and SIX: Poems (Red Hen Press, 2016), selected by C.D. Wright as the recipient of the 2014 AROHO/To the Lighthouse Poetry Prize. A recipient of the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Memoir and grants from the Kentucky Arts Council and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Wade teaches in the creative writing program at Florida International University and reviews regularly for Lambda Literary Review and The Rumpus. In 2018, her first co-authored collection with Denise Duhamel, The Unrhymables: Collaborations in Prose, will be published by Wild Patience Books, and her novella-in-poems, Same-Sexy Marriage, will be published by A Midsummer Night's Press. She is married to Angie Griffin and lives on Hollywood Beach.
