ABOUT ABOUT

The Betsy - South Beach with Miami Dade College Live Arts presents internationally-acclaimed performer Tania El Khoury (London/Beirut), in conversation about her work that uses oral histories in innovative forms that challenge audience empathy.

Ms. El Khoury’s work can also be accessed DEC 6-9, 2017 @ The Fillmore Miami Beach and New World Center, Clinton Room, respectively as part of MDC Live Arts’ Ojalá/Inshallah: Wishes from the Muslim World (miamiarts.org for times)

ABOUT THE WORK

Gardens Speak is an interactive sound installation containing the oral histories of ten ordinary people who were buried in Syrian gardens. Their stories are retold as they themselves may have recounted them, compiled with found audio that evidences their final moments. “A stark, moving theater piece by Tania El Khoury, brings us into painful intimacy with the human cost of the war.” — The New York Times

As Far As My Fingertips Take Me is conversation through a gallery wall between an audience member and a refugee. Through touch and sound, we share stories of people who have recently challenged border discrimination. The stories can be kept or washed away.

This event is free and open to the public, but your RSVP by registering is requested.
