The Betsy welcomes the Bavarian American Academy back to Miami for their 2018 Summer Academy.
On Sunday, June 3, Professor Donette Francis, a scholar of US, Caribbean, and African Diaspora literature and culture, a member of the English Department and director of American Studies at the University of Miami will present her lecture, “Archivizing Black Miami: Mapping Intellectual and Artistic Formations in a Jim Crow City.” The lecture is also the opening keynote for the Bavarian American Academy summer academy, an international American studies institute that convenes on Miami Beach June 2-10.
